Horse Bedding vs Rodent Bedding: What’s the Difference?

Animal bedding varies significantly depending on the type of animal. Horse bedding and rodent bedding differ in size, material, absorbency, and dust content.

Horse bedding is usually made from larger wood shavings or straw. It needs to be highly absorbent, easy to clean, and low in dust to protect the horse’s respiratory system.

Rodent bedding, on the other hand, is finer and often made from paper, aspen, or small wood chips. It should be soft, non-toxic, and comfortable for nesting. Some materials used for horse bedding may be too coarse or unsafe for small animals.

Using the appropriate bedding ensures both hygiene and comfort for the animal.
