How to Store Firewood
Proper firewood storage is key to keeping your wood dry, seasoned, and ready to burn.
First, split the wood to accelerate the drying process. Stack it in a single row off the ground using pallets or a rack to allow air circulation. Cover the top with a tarp or firewood cover, but leave the sides open for ventilation.
Store firewood away from your home to avoid attracting pests like termites. Ideally, let it season for 6 to 12 months, depending on the wood type.
Well-stored firewood burns more efficiently, produces less smoke, and generates more heat.
